Molly is on a instructional reading level B. She is right on target for mid-year kindergarten. She is able to read a wide variety of words. However, when she comes to a word that she does not know, she either inserts a word or skips over it. She does not know many sight words and she does not use any decoding strategies to try and figure out the word. She is very good at segmenting words as shown in her DIBELS assessment. She needs to work on decoding strategies and fluent reading. Molly is good at taking her time and comprehending what she is reading. During my sessions with her I am going to work on decoding strategies, simple word rules, fluent reading, and building her sight vocabulary. Molly is very eager to learn and is willing to do what is asked of her. I think that this eagerness will help her achieve and excel in reading and the strategies that I am going to teach her during our sessions.
