Reflection

I feel that I have learned a lot about both myself and how children learn to read. I really enjoyed having the chance to complete this case study. I learned that you need to be flexible when working with students. You also need to be prepared and able to adapt to what the child needs. I learned about and was able to use a multitude of reading strategies that I have not had the chance to do before. This was the first time that I was able to assess a student, work with them, and then reassess them. I was able to learn about new assessment tools, how to use them, and how to analyze the data that they give you. I was very fortunate to be able to work with a student that was very eager to learn. However, there were some activities that I thought she would love that she was not interested in. As soon as she saw my enthusiasm and how much fun I was having she also began to enjoy it. I learned how to motivate a student and get them to do what you want them to do. I feel that for my first time I did quite well. There were some areas that I could have improved on but overall I think that all of the sessions went extremely well. I cannot wait to have a chance to do something like this again.
