If the parent/guardian is unable to attend the meeting then the information will be videotaped and posted on the classroom website. Handouts will also be mailed to the parents who cannot attend also to ensure the information makes it home.
- Surveys will be distributed to ask families for information regarding student goals, strengths and interests in reading. (see type 5)
- Information will be supplied to families about how to help emergent readers. (see type 3)

Type 2:
Communicating
|
- Host literacy nights monthly and discuss with parents how reading levels are given and why there is a range of levels in first grade, the reading curriculum, and assessments that will be used. Each month will focus on one topic for the parents. (see type 3) For parents who cannot attend, handouts with information (multiple languages) will be sent home and the information will be posted on the classroom website.

The training will also be offered on Saturday morning in the library from 10:00-11:00.
