WELCOME TO LIBRARY!
Franklin and East Penn Elementary
Behavior
Students are expected to follow both school and library rules when in library class. Failure to follow the rules will result in the student losing points for the day which will be reflected in their grade (see Grading Policy tab). The rules are posted in the library at all times, and are reviewed with students at the beginning of the school year. The library rules are as follows:
1. I am respectful: speak kindly, don't interrupt, and use a whisper voice during book sign-out.
2. I am responsible: follow directions, pay attention, and take care of the books and library.
3. I am ready to learn: keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself, be a good listener, and ask questions.
Check-Out Policy
Students in grades 1-4 are permitted to check out 2 books at a time. One book MUST be an AR (Accelerated Reader) book on their level, and the other book can be any book of their choice.
If a student forgets BOTH of their library books, they will not be permitted to take any new books until the old ones are returned. If a student forgets ONE book, they will only be allowed to take one new AR book.
Parents, please look for notices of overdue books for your student(s). We send a notice home everytime they forget a book which includes the price of the book. You DO NOT have to pay for the book immediately! Take some time to locate the book and if it still does not turn up, then contact us to pay for the missing item. Lost books not returned or paid for after a month's time significantly affect the student's grade and will result in their report card being withheld if not rectified by the end of the year.
*Students in Kindergarten are permitted to check out 1 book at a time. The above information also applies to Kindergarten students.
