Grading Policy

Grading Policy

Each library day your student will start with 10 points.  They can lose points by forgetting books or demonstrating poor behavior in class.

1. Forgetting Books - For each book your child forgets, they will lose 1 point (Ex. Forget both books; Grade = 8/10).
      - Each consecutive week they forget a book, they lose and additional point.
          (Ex. Forget both books 3 consecutive weeks; Grade week 1 = 8/10, week 2 = 7/10, week 3 =6/10)

Lost books not returned or paid for after a month's time will negatively affect the students grade and result in their report card being withheld if not rectified by the end of the school year.

2. Poor Behavior - Your child will be warned if they are not following the rules.
      - If they continue to break the rules, their name will be put on the board and they will lose a point for the day.
      - If they still break the rules, they will recieve up to 3 check marks after their name.
             1 check mark = 1 more point off for the day.
             2 check marks = 1 more point off for the day and only allowed to take 1 book.
             3 check marks = 1 more point off for the day, not allowed to take out books, and referred to the office.

Each library day they will receive a grade out of 10 points on powerschool.  Some days they will also have a “Library Quick Check” that will count for 5-10 points that day.  The "Library Quick Check" is a ticket out the door checking for comprehesion based on that day's lesson.  It is not a test or quiz, and will never be given before a class has learned the material.

Students' grades will be represented by letters on their report cards as follows:
     O = Outstanding (93-100%)
     G = Good (85-92%)
     S = Satisfactory (76-84%)
     N = Needs Improvement (70-75%)
     U = Unsatisfactory (69% or below)
