Mrs. Middleschool's Website

Materials & Resources

The Materials & Resources section of the SAS portal allows users the opportunity to search for standards-based resources for teaching. Using the search tool is as simple as performing a search on the Internet.  You enter a keyword, and then browse through your search results to find resources that are appropriate to your needs.

These resources come to us from a variety of sources - there are educators just like you from schools across Pennsylvania who chose to publish their best lessons on our site.  We also include content from community, educational,  and cultural organizations across the state and the country.  Each piece of content undergoes an extensive peer review process before it is included on the site.

JASON and the New Argonauts

In person or via satellite, students engage in project-based learning through the exploits of Titanic explorer Bob Ballard.

Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl

Written by Harriet Jacobs (1813-1897) and published in 1861, this book is one of the first personal narratives authored by a slave providing a first-hand account of the brutalities of slavery in American History.

Karpeles Document: Connecticut’s Charter Oak

In 1687, a representative for the King James II demanded the surrender of Connecticut’s government by confiscating the colony’s Charter. In a dramatic turn of events, Captain Joseph Wadsworth hid Connecticut’s Charter in a nearby white oak tree. Even today, hundreds of years after the great tree fell in a storm, this tree remains a symbol of the state of Connecticut.

Electric Hockey

This simulation gives students the chance to "play hockey" with positive and negative charges. By positioning and manipulating positive and negative charges, students will move the charged puck towards the goal.

ePALS Classroom Exchange

ePALS Classroom Exchange helps students to meet, correspond, and interact with students in other classrooms around the world via the Internet.

Architect Studio 3D: Design a House with Frank Lloyd Wright

This web-based resource provides students the opportunity to experience the design process of an architect. Inspired by the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, Architect Studio 3D allows students to select a client, determine a location, design the exterior, interior, as well as the landscaping. In addition, students can take a "tour" of their finished work and share it with their peers.

I have listed a sample of the high-quality resources you will find on the SAS portal.  This is just a taste - new content is continuously being added to the portal.

When you are done reviewing - click Finishing the Tour to read instructions on what to do next.
