BE ON TIME.
As soon as you are dressed for activity, report to the old gym area,
right outside the locker rooms. If you
are not participating in the day’s activities see me immediately. I will let you know as a class where we will
be for the class, as well as the objective for the lesson.
-
Be appropriately dressed with shorts,
t-shirt and sneakers. As long as the weather allows, we will be going outside
for class. Sunglasses are permitted when
we are outside for class. Sunscreen is
encouraged too. Girls tie your hair back
and clip bangs out of your eyes. All
classes are co-educational so we will be conducting our class as a group. Lock all items securely in a locker. Jewelry
may be kept in my office which is always locked during class. It is YOUR responsibility to pick it up at
the end of class. (That includes cell phone and valuables) We are not responsible for lost or stolen
items. You may choose to use an already
school purchased lock or buy your own.
-
A rubric has been established which
will be used to grade your daily activity.
You will be given a copy of the grading rubric the first day of
class. Your grade will be available to
you and your parents on Sapphire. This
activity grade log will be updated every week, which allows you to keep track
of missed classes, which can be made up by your scheduling the make-up time
with me. Classes can be made up during
study halls and after school in the weight room. Please see me prior to the class to get a
pass. No passes will be issued on the
spot, immediately before class begins.
-
The curriculum includes a wide range
of activities. I realize not all
activities will be your favorite. Please
cooperate and participate to the best of your ability in each component of the
curriculum.
-
Class days will be on a 6 day
rotation with days of the week for physical education back to back. Example:
Days 1 & 2, Days 3 & 4, and Days 5 & 6 are scheduled
together. Your child’s day for physical education
is ____ and _____, please take note. Your scheduled period for class is 5/6,
which right before lunch, so I suggest you bring your lunch box (if you pack)
to class so you can go immediately to the cafeteria. Please make note of your schedule so you do
not miss being prepared for a class. If
you find yourself not prepared for the day, I suggest borrowing appropriate
clothing for the day. YOU MUST change
your clothes for class. It is not
acceptable to participate in class with your clothes for the school day.
-
The 10 minute bell signals me it is time to
conclude class. Please do not exit the
gym until you are dismissed from class.
THANKS! Once you’re dressed you
may go to the top of the steps. Please
do not disturb any other classes. (This
means no snack time until Mrs. Bodman opens her door.)
-
Locker rooms will be open by 7:30
a.m. each day. Don’t find yourself late
for class because you didn’t plan ahead.
I can’t stress to you the importance of using a locker and a lock to
secure your items.
The objective of physical education
is to provide a variety of activities so students may choose one that will
interest them and strive to keep them physically active for the rest of their
lives. You can find a copy of this
letter and grading rubric on my Moodle page and SCA website.
Please sign the form below to
acknowledge you have the read the information and seen the grading rubric and
return the next day. Please feel free to
contact me with questions or individual student concerns. I look forward to working with your child
this year.
