Here's the news for the month of November.

In reading, we will be finishing Unit 2 this month.

We have learned ar, or, and contractions.  We will be learning about r-controlled vowels er, ir, and ur, vowel patterns ai, ay, and a, and noun plurals.

We have learned about cause and effect and author's purpose thus far.  We will be learning about facts and details, and comparing and contrasting for our comprehension skills.

In spelling, our tests will be on November 7th, 15th, and the 22nd.

In English, we have learned about common and proper nouns.  We will be learning about singular and plural nouns, and possessive nouns.  As for plural nouns, the students will be adding s, es, changing the y to an i and adding es, and nouns that are irregular like goose to geese.

In writing, we are now practicing slant print with the capitals.  Cursive writing is on the way!!!!!!

In social studies, we will be learning about Veteran's Day, and the history of Thanksgiving.  We will be using our Social Studies Weekly to help present this information.

In math, we will be finishing our problem solving chapter during the week of the 4th.

Our next chapter is on triangles and quadrilaterals.  The students will describe properties of quadrilaterals and triangles, define parallel lines and parallelograms, and classify quadrilaterals.

Now that we are experiencing cold weather, please make sure your child is dressed for outside recess.  They should be wearing a warm coat, a warm hat, and gloves.  Once the snow really begins, boots will be needed.

Please remember to sign the planner and booklog daily.  The weekly folder should be returned at the beginning of the week.

Second graders have lots of learning in the month of November!!!!!!!

Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!!!!
