Hello and welcome.

This site is designed to provide instructional resources for students and serve as an electronic portfolio example to those ready to enter the profession. You will find a variety of pages which contain artifacts from my K-12 teaching career, college and university instruction, and sample lesson resources. Each will provide insight to the reader on my teaching style and philosophy. Most importantly, I hope you gain a deeper understanding of the passion I have for teaching and the enjoyment I receive in working with pre-service teacher candidates.

A message for my students:

If we have met, then you know about my Husky Pride.

As a student at Bloomsburg University I benefitted from faculty who challenged me academically, professionally, and personally. Expect no less of me as your instructor. I enjoy learning and all that comes from being a part of the campus community and participating in professional development. I will not ask more of you than I expect of myself. I understand the challenges each of us experiences every day but I also know the professionalism that the classroom demands of us as teachers.

You will read in my resume that I started my teaching career in middle level where I quickly learned that the 7th grade was where I was meant to practice. It was during my public school tenure that professsional development opportunities led me to work with adult educators and this positive experience resulted in teaching at the community college level. My passion found a new home working with college students who also shared my interest in the science and art of teaching and this would start a new career phase for me. Working at the college and university level provides a wonderful connection between the pedagogy taught in the classroom to an application of practice in the K-12 environment. It's static. It's ever-evolving. It's exciting. No two classrooms are the same and yet good, sound, practice is found in each. I represent the third generation of educators in my family and find that, despite being pratically reared in the classroom, the profession requires us to be lifelong learners. I feel fortunate to be a part of the student teaching process and to welcome you as fellow colleagues and, possibly, alumni.

My professional interests are multiculuralism, bilingual education, technology in education, and service learning. Volunteerism is a great way to get involved, make a difference and find new interests. On a personal note, I am married and a mother of two; a son, Matthew, 16, and a daughter, Lauren, 14. On campus or around town, I am always on the go so feel free to walk with me as I move. I am a lover of food, cooking, the beach, and music. I am frequently asked if I am "always like this," in reference to my upbeat mood. Yes. And I am always here to help you learn.
