Important Dates for February
Here's the news for the month of February!
In reading, we are working on Unit 4. The skills that will be taught in this unit are: final consonant -le syllable, vowel patterns oo, u, diphthongs ou, ow, oi, oy, syllable patterns, vowel digraphs oo, ue, ew, and ui.
The skills in comprehension that will be taught in this unit are: drawing conclusions, sequencing, fact and opinion, and plot and theme.
In spelling, our tests will be on the 7th, 13th, 21st, and 28th.
In English, we will be learning all about adjectives.
In writing, we are continuing to learn the rocker cursive lowercase letters. We will soon be learning the rainbow cursive letters. Once all the letters are taught, the students will start writing their names in cursive with the exception of the capital letter. Once the letter is taught in class, it too will be written in cursive.
In science, we are working on our balancing and weighing module. Lessons will include comparing objects, serial ordering objects, placing objects in serial order, balancing with unifix cubes, graphing the weight of the objects, comparing and weighing cupfuls of food. These lessons will involve using an equal-arm balance.
In math, we are learning about graphs and tables. We will be constructing tables and converting them to picture graphs. We will convert data from a tally list to a summary table. We will learn about bar graphs. The students will read and analyze information in a bar graph. They will also read and analyze double bar graphs. The students will finally learn about circle graphs.
