Technology integration into the learning environment is becoming more and more mainstream. Research supports technology integration, both on small and large scale forms, as a fundamental part of the learning experience for today's student.
Blogging and Learning
A blog is a blend of the terms "web" and "log" and can exist as either a part of a website or as a website itself. Blogs consist of "posts" that are arranged in chronological order and are typically on a particular topic. Today, you can find a blog on the Internet on just about anything you can imagine! They are great resources of information and have become an integral part of how our society disseminates information.
While anyone can read a blog, if you want to become apart of contributing to the blog, you must subscribe to it by providing a valid email address and creating a user name and password. Due to the nature of blogs, providing this information is safe and you really don't have to worry about security issues or solicitation of your email address. Once you subscribe, you can actually post comments and feedback to the posts that were created by the author of the blog.
Blogs have become an important part of our life and society. My goal is to not only expose the world of blogging to students but to give them an opportunity to become a part of it.
Here are some fun and interesting facts about blogs*
Blogging is so popular it is estimated that a new blog is created every half of a second. That's over 120,000 blogs a day!
There are over 1.4 million posts to blogs every day.
When someone contributes a post to a blog, they are "blogging".
Creating and maintaining a blog is completely free.
