Formatting a Research Paper

Two of the most commonly used style guides for writing research papers at the K-12 and college levels are the MLA (Modern Language Association) format and APA (American Psychological Association format followed by the Chicago/Turabian format.

At the college level, MLA is commonly used in liberal arts and humanities courses; APA is used in science courses and research fields; Chicago/Turabian is sometimes used in history or social studies courses.
