NJHS Upcoming Events and Important Info

* All applications are due to Mrs. Rinaldo by Friday, September 29!

*The only thing due on Septemeber 29 is the application with 3 questions. Service logs and dues will not be due until April 21th for 8th grade only. 7th grade logs and dues will not be due until April of your 8th grade year!

 

Tuesday, October 10 - 7th grade mandatory meeting will be from 3-4 in the EAMS Auditorium. Late busses will be available. Only those students who have handed in application should attend. 

Thursday, October 12 - 8th grade mandatory meeting will be from 3-4 in the EAMS Auditorium. Late busses will be available. Only those students who have handed in application should attend. 

* We will discuss all requirements and go over service hours at the meeting!  If you are unable to make your respective grade level meeting, you may attend the other meeting.

NJHS 2017-2018 Membership Requirements

 

The purpose of NJHS is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render services, to promote worthy leadership and citizenship, and to encourage the development of character in students of Easton Area Middle School.

NJHS is not the same thing as Honor Roll. In order to maintain your active membership you must read, understand, and fulfill all of the following requirements.

• Academic: Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 90%. All classes and electives are included when calculating cumulative GPA. The cumulative GPA is listed as “Current Simple GPA” on PowerSchool.
  
• Disciplinary: Abide by all school rules and regulations. Violations of the law or school regulations can result in dismissal of any member without warning. These violations include, but are not limited to any violation resulting in an out-of-school suspensions, stealing, destruction of property, cheating, truancy, or possession, selling, or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol at school or school-related activities.
  
• Service: Complete a minimum of 20 hours of community service and submit a signed service log. Only community service completed after their first day of 6^th grade may be counted for NJHS requirements.
  
• Financial: Submit cash/check for $10 payable to EASD for membership dues. $10 dues are not due until the end of your 8^th grade year, please do not send money in early.

 

Membership Induction

Eligible members will be formally inducted in the 4^th quarter of their 8^th grade year. In order to be inducted members must fulfill all requirements above and maintain all Academic, Disciplinary, and Service Standards. Administration holds the right to dismiss members for not following the above guidelines.
