Mrs. Bishel: French and Science 7
Wildlife Ecology is a one semester course covering the foundational study of the world's biomes, and man's interaction with them, as well as our role in it's conservation.
There is no textbook for this class, so all students are required to have a 3-ring binder. Most work will be completed in class, unless students have missed or not completed their work during class time.
These plans are subject to change.
5-8 to 5-12-17: PA Environment and Ecology - Unit 2 due by end of class Wednesday, all Section Review questions turned in, and one "You Solve It!" of your choice as well. Hydoponic Garden monitoring will be completed by Friday - Lab Report will be due by end of class Tuesday, May 16th.
4-24 to 4-28-17: We will continue to monitor our Hydoponics experiment. After we have completed the El-Nino Webquest, we will introduce the study of Environment and Ecology for Pennsylvania. Wednesday through Friday will be Units 1.1 and 1.2.
4-19 to 4-21-17: The essay response for "The Day After Tomorrow" film will be due Weds (after finishing the film). We will then take a quick look at the conditions known as El Nino and La Nina, it's causes and it's effects on our local weather. The Webquest for El Nino is here: El-Nino-Webquest.doc
4-10 to 4-13-17: This week finishes up our textbook book study of Ecology, with time given for our Rain Wash Pollution lab write up, before we watch the film "The Day After Tomorrow" before Easter break.
4-3 to 4-7-17: Finishing up Chapter 3, we will study for the Chapter quiz, reviewing before the quiz on Thursday.
3-27 to 3-31-17: Continuing with Hydroponics, we have been testing the water's pH, and correcting it for maximized growth. Chapter Study: Worksheets and quiz for 3.2, by Thursday.
3-20 to 3-24-17: We are continuing our Hydroponics Garden in the classroom, and maintaining records for pH and growth. In the classroom learning, we are starting Unit 3.2, with chapter readings, worksheets completed in class, and watching videos about living a zero-waste lifestyle.

3-6 to 3-10-17: This week continues our project of planting seeds for our Hydroponics Experment. Students are expected to maintain notes on all steps of the process, and all factors of progress.
We are also beginning the 3rd and final chapter in our text, covering the influence of Man on the environment, and the reach of some of our decisions. All work will be completed in class, using handouts.
2-21 to 2-24-17: This week we will finish our study of Rachel Carson and her publication of Silent Spring, then we will begin our experiment with growing our own hydroponic garden.
Please remember to provide a 2-liter bottle to the classroom.
2-13 to 2-16-17: We will (hopefully) begin our Hydroponics project this week, trying to grow plants without soil, only nutrient water. To this end, I've asked each student to provide an empty 2 or 3 liter bottle, for individual experiments. Meanwhile, we have started chapter 2 in our Ecology book, and we will work towards completing it by the end of this week, or next. We will review in class with worksheets before our Chapter 2 test, most likely during the week of 2-21-17.
1-30 to 2-3-17: This week finishes our review of Unit 1. Our Quiz on sections 1.3 and 1.4 will be Wednesday, February 1, with the review for all of Unit 1 on Thursday, and the Chapter test on Friday, Feb. 3.

1-23 to 1-27-17: This week is finishing our Unit 1 Study, which looks at the different biomes throughout the world, and the necessity each organism has on other biotic and abiotic factors. We will finish this study, after our quiz on FRIDAY, with a look at the Yellowstone Fire of 1988 and the change that brought to National Park Burn Policies. We will also investigate Biosphere 2, and the lessons learned from this Arizona experiment.
