Leadership Opportunities


Keystone Boys State Program: A Youth Citizenship Program for Young Men.  Dates:    Location: Shippensburg University Eligible candidates:

  • Completed junior year in high school
  • Interested in government at the city, county and  state levels
  • Strong leadership skills

Interested students should contact Mrs. Martin in the guidance office for an application.

 Keystone Girls State Program sponsored by The Amercian Legion Auxiliary allows female candidates to expereince all levels of government from city, county, state and federal in a week long experience at Shippensburg University.  Housing and fees are covered through sponsorship through the American Legion. Interested students need to have successfully completed 11th grade prior to the June event, must be recognized for her leadership abilities, character, good citizenship and scholarship. Interested students should contact Mrs. Costenbader in the guidance office.

Pennsylvania State Police Youth Week sponsored by the American Legion.  This is a wonderful chance for students looking to enter the criminal justice field to get training in self defense, canine, forensics, crime codes, bomb squad, SWAT team, riot control, prison systems, drug laws, radar, marksman course and familiarity with weapons.
