 New Scholarships          

 

           * UPDATE:  The Elysburg Rotary has changed the deadline of their scholarship.  The scholarship is now due by midnight on Sunday, May 10.

 

          * The Steve Talarovich Memorial Scholarship is now available to an SCA senior.  Eligibility requirements and the application are attached to this email.  Email completed applications to Mr. Williams (mwilliams@scasd.us).  DEADLINE: May 11, 2020.

 

 
Scholarship Archive         

           For all seniors and eligible scholarship recipients.  We will continue to collect all scholarships as posted.  Please follow the original scholarship deadlines as listed. We have decided to accept electronic copies of your completed scholarships for any scholarships that were to be turned into the guidance office.  Please follow these important steps:

  • If the scholarship is to be returned to the guidance office after completion, please scan the completed document to the email of BOTH Mrs. Sellers (jsellers@scasd.us) and Mr. Donlan (tdonlan@scasd.us).  If you do not have access to a traditional scanner, you can download Microsoft Office Lens to your phone and scan documents through the app.
  • Please keep the paper copy of your completed scholarship - it may still be needed.
  • Be sure to double check if the application is turned into guidance or if you mail it directly to the scholarship sponsor.
  • For continuity, all scholarships must be emailed to BOTH counselors by 3:00 pm on the due date  

    

           The Catawissa Community Scholarship is open to SCA seniors.  Students must complete an application and write an essay based on a community service prompt (provided on the application).  Application and instructions were emailed to you.  DEADLINE: May 8, 2020.

 

           The Anthracite Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association’s Edward M. Griffiths II Memorial Scholarship is now available in the guidance office.  Eligible students must have been accepted at Penn State or any of its branch campuses, including Penn Tech, for either summer or fall semester of 2020.  DEADLINE: May 8, 2020.

 

           The Trichelle Grove Memorial Scholarship is given in memory of Trichelle, an SCA graduate.  Applicants must be attending a college or trade school in the fall.  The application and instructions were emailed to you.  DEADLINE: May 9, 2020.

 

           Elysburg Rotary will offer a $1,000 scholarship to an SCA senior.  Students must write an essay based on the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self” and how they exemplify that motto.  Completed essays are due at midnight on May 10.  E-mail completed essays to pcyeager@aol.com.

 

          The SCA Music Booster Scholarship is now available!  The application was already emailed to you.  There will be 4 recipients of $250.00 each.  Please complete the application and send back to the boosters by email or mail:

          An Anonymous donor sponsors a scholarship for an SCA senior.  Students must complete an application and write an essay.  The application and instructions were emailed to you.  DEADLINE: May 11, 2020     

 

          The Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O) Tri-Chapter Award is now available.  The applicant must be a senior girl who attends high school in Columbia County and who plans to attend college, nursing school, a trade or technical school.  Other factors include a challenging course of study, extra-curricular activities, and involvement in community service.  Documents will be accepted electronically at lmstiansen@netscape.net  DEADLINE EXTENDED TO: May 15, 2020.

 

         The Susquehanna Valley School Counselors Association (SVSCA) sponsors a scholarship for local seniors.  Please click on the link below to complete and submit your application.  DEADLINE: May 15, 2020.

           The PB & J Scholarship Fund is open to students who will be attending college.  Apply online at http://bit.ly/pbjscholars2020 DEADLINE: May 31, 2020.

 

          The Keystone Elk County Alliance & Seneca Resources Company, LLC, offers a $1,000 scholarship to students pursuing a career in an environmental field.  The deadline is June 30.  Click on the link below for more information.

            Empire Beauty Schools sponsors a $1,000 scholarship for graduating seniors attending Empire Beauty School to pursue their dream in cosmetology.  Applications are available in the guidance office.  DEADLINE: August 1, 2020.

           

           The Marine Corps Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Scholarship is now available.  Please review the slides attached regarding the Marine Corps.  You can also visit http://nrotc.navy.mil. 

 

           The Wace National Co-op Scholarship Program is open to students who have applied to one of the following institutions: Clarkson University, Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, State University of New York Oswego, The University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati, and Wentworth Institute of Technology.  Applications are available by visiting waceinc.org  

 

             Mount Aloysius College offers the Mercy Presidential Scholarship for students attending the university.  For more information, contact 814-886-6383 or mtaloy.edu.

            Colleges offer many scholarships for prospective students.  Please be sure that you are checking the Scholarship and Financial Aid page of each college or trade school that you are applying to.

          The Pennsylvania American Legion offers several contests and scholarships including:
