Urban and Rural Communities
 

Objective: Students will use a variety of resources to compare and contrast urban and rural communities.

Curriculum Expectations:

• Demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of urban communities
• Demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of rural communities
• Use appropriate vocabulary to describe their inquiries (urban, rural, city, town, village)
• Ask question and explore a variety of means to obtain information
• Locate key information about urban and rural communities from secondary sources
• Communicate information using media works, written notes, charts and graphic organizers  

Standards Addressed:

• S4.B.3.3.4: Identify major land uses in the urban, suburban and rural communities (e.g., housing, commercial, recreation).
• 7.4.4.A: Identify the effect of the physical systems on people within a community.
