Welcome Parents & Students!

My name is Ms. Geist and I will be teaching your child in the alternative education program.  Your child will be taking one of the following math requirements: 7th grade math, 8th grade math or Algebra I.  You can view the syllabus for your childs class by selecting the appropiate course found on the main page, followed by selecting the link provided.  The syllabus includes expectations, a detailed grading scale, standards, and course requirements for the semester/year.  I look forward to teaching your child for the time they spend in alternative education.  Below is an overview of Alternative Education:

Alternative Education Overview: Students are in the alternative education program in order to be transitioned in to the regular school day program.   There are expectations and goals that must be met.  In order to transition back students must attend school 92% of the time.  Students must also maintain an 80% average in all major courses.  Students must not receive more than 2 referrals per marking period.

Each week a daily achievement chart will be mailed home.  There are four areas of focus on the daily chart:

  1. Be Responsible
  2. Be Cooperative
  3. Be Respectful
  4. Be There/Be Ready

The chart is intended to inform the student and parent/guardian on a five point scale; 1 needs improvement and 5 outstanding.  The chart will be completed by each teacher for each subject.  The form also provides the teacher with space to input the student’s current grade and assignments due.  There is also space for teacher comments per day.
