Below are the latest news and announcements for the classroom

Reading - In reading, we will use many important reading skills and strategies to help us understand and explain the stories we read. Get ready to lose yourself in many reading adventures this year.

Writing - We will write many things this year. We will write stories, a research report, instructions, a personal narrative, a description, a persuasive essay and even poems! Click to view a show on the Five Types of Writing we'll be using this year.

Spelling - We will continue learning high frequency words, as well as reviewing spelling patterns from second grade. We will learn many new spelling patterns and ways to remember them!

English - In English class the parts of speech will be our top priority. We will learn all different kinds of nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives and even adverbs. Practicing how to use these correctly in writing and speaking will be done each day.

Math - Math class will be very exciting, with many chances to use second grade problem solving strategies. We will learn to read and write numbers in the hundred thousands and we will learn more about many other math topics. Come to third grade knowing your adding and subtracting facts and you will be ready to go.

Science - Scientists use the scientific method to learn new things. In third grade, we will be scientists using the scientific method to learn about the solar system, human cells, erosion, and the properties of light.

Social Studies - Social Studies class will cover many topics. We will learn how to make and read different kinds of maps. We will learn about our country's history and government. We will even have the chance to learn about the economy.

Health - We will learn about body systems, safety topics, nutrition, and the difference between drugs and medicine in our health lessons.
