Course Goals
- Investigate, research, and solve realistic problem(s) by using math, science, technology and engineering.
- Using the engineering design process, develop new and practical solutions to problems
- Conduct appropriate research and document using APA format
- Develop , test and evaluate future technologies
- Create a presentation for each project
- Compile a portfolio of all ideas, information gathered, proposals, reflections, test results, and operation procedures

- Talk to local business employees, school teachers and administrators, or other members of community for ideas.
- Get multiple ideas to brainstorm
F. Career Presentations
- One career per semester, two per year
- Ongoing assignment
- Present a PowerPoint to the class
G. Personal/Family related project

Grading
- Grades will be based on a point system. Points will be assigned for in class assignments, group work, projects, journals, homework, tests, and quizzes.
- Participation will account for ten percent of your grade. You will lose points if you are not participating or following the rules.
- Due Dates for projects are strictly enforced. Assignments and homework that are not handed in on time will only be worth half credit. It is crucial that you are aware of when things are due and to get your assignments in on time. You are strongly encouraged to come in for extra help or when you need extra time to work on projects!
Tests and Quizzes
- All tests and quizzes will be announced. If you miss the day of a quiz or test, you will be expected to make it up within two days of your return. Points will be deducted for any test or quiz not made up in a timely manner.
Cheating Policy
- Students caught cheating on a quiz, test, or classroom assignment will automatically receive a zero on the assignment. If caught cheating again, a call home will be made and you will be written up.
Absences
- Attendance is very important for this class. If you are absent, you are responsible for getting the assignments you have missed when you return and completing them in a timely manner.
Materials
- You must have a notebook for this course. All notebooks/journal entries will be graded. You should bring a writing utensil to every class in the event we are taking notes or completing written assignments!
- Most supplies are provided for you; however some material may be the student’s responsibility.
