Course Goals:

 

ÿ       To become familiar with drafting materials, techniques, software, and applications.

ÿ       Develop critical thinking skills to solve real life problems.

ÿ       Design, develop, and/or reproduce various drawings to specific scales.

ÿ       Combine knowledge of drafting to create a final project.

Technical Drawing

ÿ       Measuring /Lettering

ÿ       Page Border/Title Blocks/Alphabet of lines

ÿ       Geometric shapes (techniques for complicated drawings)

ÿ       2-Dimensional reproduction drawings

ÿ       Orthographic Projections

ÿ       Dimensioning rules and techniques

Computer Aided Drawing

ÿ       Toolbar/Button Identification

ÿ       Operational Procedures – (Zoom, Pan, Print, Save, etc.)

ÿ       2-Dimensional reproduction drawings

ÿ       Orthographic Projections

ÿ       Dimensioning rules and techniques

ÿ       3D Drawing Basics

Grading

  • Grades will be based on a point system. Points will be assigned for in class assignments, projects, homework, tests, and quizzes.

 

  • Due Dates for projects are strictly enforced. Assignments and homework that are not handed in on time will only be worth half credit. It is crucial that you are aware of when things are due and to get your assignments in on time. You are strongly encouraged to come in for extra help or when you need extra time to work on projects!

Tests and Quizzes

  • If you miss the day of a quiz or test, you will be expected to make it up within three days of your return. Points will be deducted for any test or quiz not made up in a timely manner.

 

Cheating Policy

Students caught cheating on a quiz, test, or classroom assignment will automatically receive a zero on the assignment. If caught cheating again, a call home will be made and you will be written up. Copying and Pasting work or changing the names on the same document and printing out multiple copies is considered cheating.

 

Absences

 

  • Absences will have a direct effect on your nine weeks grade for participation.
  • You may be absent up to and including four (4) days per nine weeks and still earn an “A" for participation.    
  • Only students with excused absences will be allowed to make up points.
  • If an excuse is not presented to Mr. Manack within three (3) days of an absence, the student will be referred to the office for cutting class.

 

Internet Policy

 

                You must have a signed Internet Permission Slip to access the Internet and participate in online activities.  If you are caught on any inappropriate sites, you will be written up immediately. Inappropriate sites do include gaming sites, email, Facebook, YouTube.

 

Seating

 

                You must sit at your assigned seat unless you are moved by the teacher.

 

Materials

 

•    You will need a three ring binder for this course. Handouts, printed drawings and any other papers will be stored in your binder.. You should bring a writing utensil to every class in the event we are taking notes or completing written assignments!
