What are we learning and doing this week? 

Reading - Our letter of the week is Tt.  Just like last week, we will learn to identify words that begin and end with the /t/ sound.   

        Today (Tuesday) we had our first lesson on nouns. The class is learning that a noun is a person, place, thing, or animal.  We completed a sorting activity and compared what we had more of and less of.

       This week we will put "t words" in our Kid Writing.  We will practice stretching out our words and learning how to listen for the sounds that we can write on our paper.  I am hoping to transition to true Kid Writing, where the children use sight words and their OWN spelling, by the end of the month.

Math   

      We are continuing Chapter 3 - Representing, Counting, and Writing Numbers 6-9 this week.  As I mentioneed in my letter home, this is a very long chapter.  There are different skills covered, and it will take a few weeks to complete. This week we are working on ways to make 7 and writing 7.

Science/Social Studies

          Today we had our test on apples.  Overall, the children did a great job!  Friday , we will be making our homemade applesauce. Yummm!  Tomorrow we will begin a new unit on leaves.
