8- Developing, Sustaining, and Ending Relationships

Developing, Sustaining, and Ending Relationships

“A guy and a girl can be just friends, but at one point or another, they will fall for each other...Maybe temporarily, maybe at the wrong time, maybe too late, or maybe forever”

 -Dave Matthews, musician

For the eighth unit of the year, it is essential that you abandon the idea that you know all there is to know about relationships because you currently have or have had a significant other.  During this chapter, your experiences (or lack thereof) should help to make this content relevant to your life.  In order for this chapter to be successful and beneficial, it is necessary that you bring your maturity with you to class every day.

By the end of this two-and-a-half week chapter, you should be able to answer the following essential questions completely and confidently.

How do relationships change from day-to-day, month-to-month, and year-to-year?

What are the characteristics of friendship?

What are the qualities that characterize a romantic relationship?

What is the best way to end a serious relationship?

What is the difference between love and infatuation?

What issues are involved in sexual decision-making?
