The ninth chapter of this course is easily the most controversial. During this chapter, potentially uncomfortable ideas and concepts will be presented to you in an unbiased fashion. The goal for this chapter is not to persuade you with one belief or another, but rather to open your eyes to the reality of the world around you. Again, maturity and open-mindedness are essential during this unit.
By the end of this two-and-a-half week chapter, you should be able to answer the following essential questions completely and confidently.
How do the legal issues regarding different lifestyle choices and consequences compare from one to the other?
What does it take to live on your own?
What commitments are needed in marriage?
What are the legal issues with living with a significant other?
What are the ways to deal with an unplanned pregnancy?
Is abortion murder or a legitimate choice? If it is a choice, then whose choice is it?
What are the risks a teenager faces if she becomes pregnant?
What actions should you take if you contract an STD?
