Engagement and Marriage

Unit ten will allow you to explore some of the realities of engagement and marriage.  During this chapter, we will discuss and compare the forces that affect partner and spouse selection and the essential characteristics of a successful relationship.  Additionally, we will uncover marriage laws in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and other states.  You won't believe some of the weird and wacky rules certain states have (No, I'm not talking about West Virginia!).

 

By the end of this three week unit, you should be able to answer the following essential questions completely and confidently.

What qualities are characteristic of people considering marriage?

What important issues need to be discussed by couples considering marriage?

What forces affect partner selection?

What is the purpose of an engagement period?

What are the signs that an engagement should be ended?

What are the current marriage laws in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?

What are the responsibilities of wedding planning for each family?
