Family and Consumer Science Courses 2012-2013 School Year
Family and Consumer Sciences 8
This course includes the study of nutrition, personal grooming, clothing selection and care, and basic concepts of child development.
Parenting and Child Development
This course is designed to provide students with current and comprehensive content on child development from conception through adolescence as it relates to parenting and child care.
Personal Finance
Required for graduation, this is a course in consumer education covering the area of Personal Finance. Financial products and services are more available than ever before. Students need to be better informed about what those services cost and which are best suited for their wants and needs. This is an online course taught through Compass Learning.
Relationships
This course is designed to enable students to form healthy, caring relationships with peers, family members, and the community. Practival application of building relationships is accomplished by pairing students with a Life Skills Buddy for a series of weekly activities.

Choices in Transition
This course is a requirement for all 9th grade students. It is the purpose of this course to address issues that are relevant to today's teen. Topics covered include: transition to high school, study skills, career exploration, sexual harassment, your digital footprint, relationships, and tolerance. Note: The Career Exploration Project in this course is the initial phase of the senior graduation project requirement.
