9/8/2010 - MSD Teacher Technology Inquiry

Montour Teachers:

I am currently collecting data on levels of interest on "in-house" technology training for teachers.  Over the next 10 months, we anticipate a tremendous technological upgrade within our district.  The current emphasis will be ensuring that technology is used effectively to create new opportunities for learning and to promote student achievement. Educational technology is not, and never will be, transformative on its own, however.  We understand it requires the assistance of educators who integrate technology into the curriculum, align it with student learning goals, and use it for engaged learning projects. With that being stated, please email me the answers the following questions:

  1. Would you be interested in "teaching" teachers technology appropriate to promote learning for all students in the classroom?  (i.e. SMART Board basics, web-quests, e-portfolios, etc.)
  2. Would you be interested in attending a one-a-week training for approximately 12-weeks on a specific technology topic? (These would be after-school within one of our buildings)
  3. Finally, what topics would you be most interested in becoming more proficient?
It is widely proven, students in technology-supported classrooms are armed with powerful tools and are more engaged.  We have to make sure we move like other progressive school districts and afford students those opportunities.

Thank you for your participation!

9/7/2010 - Presentation

I will presenting the 2010 PSSA data at the regular scheduled school board meeting on September 23, 2010.  The Montour learning community should be excited, as our scores have increased in nearly every reporting category....many of our grade levels scored 90%+ Advanced or Proficient!
