Below are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions from both students and parents:

What if I forgot to write down my homework in my agenda or left it in school?
No problem!  Simply go to my homepage and click on the Homework link.  This page is always updated with the latest homework and upcoming assessments.

How do I know what to study when there is an assessment
A Concept Guide is provided for each Topic Assessment.  The Concept Guide, which should be taped into your agenda, is an outline of the exact skills that will be on the assessment.  Use the Concept Guide to focus your studying/preparation and remember to look back at the problems covered in your enVision math books.  Concept Guides will always be given at least 2 days prior to the assessment.  They are also reviewed the day before the assessment.

What if I forget my math homework at school?
No problem!  All you need to do is find the "Addtional Practice Pages" link on my website, and you will find a PDF downloadable file for all of the enVision Math Topics/lessons.  You can also log into your Savvas Realize account and select the Topic and lesson that we are studying and simply print out the assigned page.

What can I do to help my child at home?
You can check over your child's homework each night and review any problems that were completed incorrectly.  It is important for your child to learn from their mistakes.

You can read over the Home-School Connection letters, which are sent home at the beginning of each Topic. These letters will provide you with a brief overview of the Topic, along with suggested games and activities that you can use with your child at home.

You can use the enVision Mathematics Common Core workbook (classwork) to assist your child.  This book can be used to review examples covered in class to help with homework and to facilitate studying with the use of Concept Guides, which are given for each Topic Assessment.

You can have your child review the homework pages that have been completed in the enVision Mathematics Additional Practice workbook. You can also use these pages to make additional practice problems/questions for your child to solve in preparation for assessments.  Reviewing these pages will provide extra practice and reinforce concepts/skills that were covered throughout each Topic.        

You can help your child review the vocabulary terms associated with each Topic and make practice quizzes for them to assess their comprehension.  Remember that Vocabulary Quizzes are typically given every 2-3 Topics.  All Vocabulary Quizzes are set up in a matching or multiple-choice format. Please note that the vocabulary words for each Topic can be found in the students’ Common Core workbook, but a list of terms will be sent home prior to each Vocabulary Quiz.

You can check out the various sites/resources that I have linked on my homepage. These sites will provide additional practice and support in a number of mathematical areas.  You can also do your own online search and explore other math resources.

You can have your child practice basic math facts, especially multiplication and division.  Your child can practice these facts by using flash cards, worksheets, games, and online resources. Specifically, one option is exploring my classroom website where you can access some valuable resources, including customizable worksheet generators and interactive fact practice games.

You can have your child enter their Savvas Realize online account and utilize the wealth of resources that are available to you and your child. Once you access this website, you will see the variety of related resources that will support the Topics covered within the enVision Mathematics program. 

You can have your child review and work on previous assignments given in Study Island. Retaking the Study Island “practice quizzes” will offer your child additional practice and reinforcement, along with an opportunity to increase their math grade. 

You can have your child work on MobyMax (Math, Numbers, Fact Fluency) lessons as a means of practice and reinforcement. MobyMax is an individualized learning platform designed to automatically assign lessons based on diagnostic results and progress. 

You can have your child work on IXL as another means of learning and reinforcement.  IXL is used to support skill practice and facilitate growth.  This program pairs seamlessly with the enVision Mathematics program and correlates to Pennsylvania Standards.  

How will I know my child's grade/progress in Fifth Grade Mathematics?
You can go to the Sapphire Parent Portal and log into your account.  You will then be able to access your child's grades/progress at any time.  Therefore, you should always be fully aware of your child’s performance and academic standing.  Please be sure that you are regularly checking Sapphire to see your child’s progress.
