 Update: 5/11/17- The point value of the reading test has changed from 20 to 30 pts. There were 10 extra points added to have the students support their answer with evidence from the text. In order to receive full points for the evidence, the students needs to highlight/underline and include the question number.

 

 

Hi Parents!

Last homework for the year was given on Thursday, May 18th and will due Friday, May 26th. I strongly recommend doing it over the weekend and re-reading the story since our reading test is on a Monday. If your child has forgotten their reading book you can watch/read the story on YouTube, just search for AMERICA'S SWIMMER: GERTRUDE EDERLE.

Cereal Box Book Report Guide

Kiddos are going to create their own book report out of cereal box, out of a book they already read.

Create your report out of the following directions:

1. Entire Box- cover the entire box in a sheet of white or light paper (I’ve had kids do wrapping paper, just as long as it’s not too busy looking) like a present.
2. Front of Box- Think of a name for your cereal that is related to your book. For the example, The Lightning Thief you could name your cereal “Lightning O’s”. Design the cover of the cereal colorfully and should show what the cereal looks like, and include a picture of a related prize. The prize for “Lightning O’s” might be a pen in the shape of a lightning bolt.
3. Back of Box- Fun game or puzzle on the back.
4. Right Side- write a detailed summary of the book on the sheet provided.
5. Left Side- Include the list of ingredients (desriptive setting and characters) on the sheet provided.
6. Top of box- give the book a rating on the sheet provided.

 

Due Date: 5/24/17- and will count as quiz grade

  **** Lateness Penalty- If an assignment is handed later than the assigned date (except for an absence) there will be an automatic 50% taken off the final assignment grade.

 

Homework Policy- Homework is given on a Monday and handed in on Friday. The assignments are up on my board all week, and the next test dates are given as well. Homework is based on completion so if a student doesn't do one piece they lose a point (example: 4/4, 3/4, 2/4, 1/4) . Unless a student is absent that day, homework must be handed in on Friday.
