5/24: Today we went over the homework. We then took notes on and did examples from section 11.2 which is about simplifying radicals. The homework is on page 723, #s 3-22, 26-45. Students are not required to do all of these problems. They can pick and choose which to do depending on what they feel they need to practice the most. We will go over them next class. 5/18: Today the class work from last class was due. Students were then given this extra practice. It is due NO LATER than the beginning of class on Friday. Extra Practice Term 3.pdf

5/16: Today we went over the homework that was assigned from the book last class. Students were then given this in class assignment which notes can be used to complete. It is due at the start of next class. Exponential growth and decay WS (1).pdf

5/11: Today we took notes on and did examples of exponential growth and decay. 5/9: Today we went over the homework from last Thursday. Students then completed an in class assignment that was due at the end of class for all of the students that did not have to leave class early. If you missed, I sent you an email asking you to see me in the morning for a copy, as I do not have an electronic copy to post/send. It is due at the start of class on Wednesday. It is based upon what we have learned the previous 2 classes. 

5/5: Today we went over the homework. We then took notes on and did examples pertaining to zero and negative exponents. This is the notes handout I provided to students Zero and Negative Exponents notes.pdf Please see me for a copy of the homework if you were absent.

5/3: Today I collected the classwork that was given on Friday. We then began chapter 8 which is all about exponents. We took notes on and did examples using the properties of exponents. 4/29: Today students completed an in class assignment that was very similar tot he examples in the notes we took on Wednesday. This will be graded and is due at the beginning of next class. applications of quadratics assignment.pdf

4/27: Today we took notes on and did examples of applications of quadratics. I provided students with a notes handout to aid their note taking. Please see me if you were absent for copies, as it is not a file formatted to be attached. There was no homework. Students should be prepared to complete an in class assignment on Friday which pertains to what we learned today. They will be allowed to use their notes, but will need to understand them. 

4/25: Today students completed part 2 of their Quadratics Test.

4/21: Today students got part 1 of their test back. We then reviewed the information that will appear on part 2 of their test on Monday. I gave them a review and study guide. Please see me for copies if needed.

4/19: Today students took part one of their test on Quadratics. Thursday we will review the content for the second half of the test, which will be on Monday, April 25th. 

4/15: Today we reviewed concepts that will be on the first part of the test on Tuesday (the test was pushed back). Students were given another optional review, as well as a handout as to how to grah equations in intercept form. Please see me for a copies if absent as the website has been down and will not allow attachments to be added. The test will be on Tuesday.

4/13: Today we went over the homework, and then went over how to graph quadratic inequalities. Students were then given an optional test review to study with. Please see me for a copy if absent as the website has been down and will not allow attachments to be added.

4/11: Today homework was collected from last class. We then took notes on and did examples of how to solve quadratics using the quadratic equation. 4/7: Today we went over examples of changing a quadratic from standard form to vertex form by completing the square. Students were given this worksheet to begin in class and will be due at the start of class on Monday. rewriting in vertex form from standard form quadratics.pdf

4/5: Today the classwork/homework that was given out before Easter break was collected. We then took notes on and did examples of how to graph quadratics that are in vertex form. 3/24: Today, we went over the homework and cleared up all questions students had reguarding it. 3/22: Today we went over the homework. We then took notes on and did examples of completing the square when fractions and bigger numbers are involved. 3/16: The remainder of the homework (classwork from last class) was collected at the start of class. We then took notes on and did examples of how to solve a quadratic by completing the square, as well as how to find a value "c" so that a trinomial is a perfect square trinomial. 3/14: Today the homework from last class was collected. We then did a few review problems, and students then had this worksheet to complete in class. 3/10: Today the worksheet that was given for homework on Tuesday was collected. We then took notes on and did examples of using the conjugate of radical expressions to simplify them, as well as how to solve equations which involve square roots. 3/8: Today, the remainder of the homework that was not completed and turned in last class was collected. We then went over #s 1-19 on the worksheet which was also homework. We took notes on and did examples of more scenerios involving radicals to prepare us for the rest of the chapter. Students were given a worksheet in which they were to complete the entire first side, and the first two questions on the back side. Come in and see me or a copy if you were absent. This is not a file that I could covnert to a pdf to post. 

3/3: Today, we went over the homework, and went over examples of how to graph a quadratic by factoring it first (if possible). We then went over radicals, (square roots of numbers) and how to simplify radicals that are not perfect squares. Students recieved a practice worksheet in which they were told to complete the entire first page for homework. Students were also given classtime to begin a worksheet which has 4 quadratics that are to be graphed by factoring first. Please see me for copies of these worksheets if absent, as they are not files that can be converted to a pdf to be posted.

3/1: Today we took notes on and did examples of how to solve a quadratic by graphing. Homework is on page 647, #s 3-8, 15, 17, 22, 23, 32, and 34. It is due at the start of class on Thursday.

2/26 Today students completed classwork on graphing quadratic equations. Pages 638-639 #s 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34. It is due at the beginning of class on Tuesday.

2/24: Today there was a short homework quiz and then the homework was reviewed as a class. Students then completed an activity for bonus points which involved graphing quadratics. This homework was given and will be collected on Friday. graphing quads hw.pdf

2/22: Today we began the study of quadratics. We took notes on and did examples of how to graph a quadratic. 2/18: Today students took a test on Chapter 9. 

2/16: Today the review paxket was checked for completion and students were given points for having done so. I read off the answers to each question and we did many problems students had questions on. I gave these handouts as optional extra review sources chapter 9 review wksts.pdf Blank copies of the review can also be found below from class on 2/11. If you were absent and wish to check your answers on the review/need to show me you have completed it, please see me before homeroom tomorrow.

2/11: Today we took notes on and did examples from section 9.6 and 9.7 to finish up the chapter. I gave out a review which mimics the test that will be next Thursday. I also created a study guide for factoring, and gave students a handout of 4 "tricky" types of questions you will see on the test. I took questions and we did a lot of examples. The test review is due on Tuesday. Tuesday will be a review day, so students should come prepared with questions or types of problems that they want to practice. The test is Thursday. An optional review will be held at 7:30 am Thursday morning due to the fact that many students are only there for one mod and therefor not after school. 2/9: Today we learned how to factor by grouping, which is the first part of section 9.8. Students practiced this concept using dry erase boards. Students were then given homework which is due on Thursday. factoring by grouping 9.8 hw.pdf

2/4: Today I checked students homework for completion. They then did the problems on the board. We reviewd a bit, and then students completed classwork from the textbook Algebra 1 Common Core. Pages 515-516 #s 10-29(factor and solve), 32-34

2/2: Today we finished taking notes on section 9.4 and did examples and took notes on 9.5. Students then used the dry erase boards for extra practice. Students were given this sheet for homework. hw 9.4-9.5.pdfREMINDER: extra practice corrections are due on THURSDAY at the beginning of class!!!!

1/29: Today, homework was checked. We reviewed sections 9.1-9.3 and students then completed a short quiz on the material. We then began taking notes on section 9.4 and have it almost completed. Students were handed back their extra practice worksheets. They have the option to do corrections on seperate notebook paper to earn back at most a half of a point for each point missed. This will be due no later than next Thursday during class time. It is optional to make corrections. Students must hand in their corrections as well as their origonal work to recieve full credit.

1/27: All extra practices were collected. We reviewd section 9.1 and took notes and practiced problems from sections 9.2 and 9.3. This homework worksheet was assigned. hw 9.1-9.3.pdf. There will be a quiz Friday on sections 9.1-9.3.

 1/25: Today we went over section 9.1 which is about adding and subtracting polynomials. This involves the skill of having to "combine like terms." There was no homework. The Extra practice is due at the beginning of class on Wednesday. You must show all of your work in your papers to recieve full credit. We are going to review how to solve #16 at the beginning of class. I will show you how to set it up, you will solve it, and I will collect the reviews immediently afterwards. Please email me if you have any questions, I will do my best to answer via email. Otherwise we can set up a time to meet Tuesday or Wednesday before school. 

12-10:  Today we worked with rigid transformations of functions.  We focused on the absolute value function.

Homework is pages 416-418 #16, 17, 18, 21, 23, 26, 29, 33, 36, 43, 44 + the absolute value graphs that I emailed to you.

Chapter 6 test will be Thursday 12 - 17.

12-4:  We worked with solving absolute value equations and inequalities today.  Homework is Inequalities and absolute value.pdf which you will turn in Tuesday.

12-1:  We started chapter 6 today by solving linear inequalities. Homework is page 387 #1 - 8

11-19:  Today I collected your first extra practice.  I will get that back to you Monday so that you can make corrections for Wednesday. I emailed your homework to you. We will quiz on this chapter Monday. 

11-13:  We took time to review today on past concepts that we've looked at so far this year.  I gave you your first extra practice of the school year.  This is due on Thursday 11-19.  It will count for term 1.  Here it is. Extra Practice Term 1 2015.pdf   If you were in class, you got it on pretty blue paper:)

11-9:  I am collecting homework at the start of class then we will review for your test Wednesday.

11-5:  We went over the homework and did more with function notation.  Homework is the function notation worksheet Function notation in-class assignment.pdf which you will turn in Monday and numbers 8 - 13 from the other worksheet which we will go over as we review for your test Wednesday.

11-3:  We reviewed the homework, slope-intercept form and started function notation today.  Your homework is to complete a - d on the graph side of the worksheet we started in class and do #1 - 7 which is the graphs to graph on graph paper on the back.

* Your test is going to be Wednesday, 11-11.  We will need to work on function notation more Thursday and we will review Monday.

10-29:  We went over the domain and range homework today and graphing lines using slope-intercept form.  You finished your papers from last class also.

Homework is page 248 #21-29, + #7-10 on domain and range worksheet.

10-23:  Today we graphed lines using a table of values and x- and y-intercepts (even though you wanted to use slope):) 

Homework is page 219 #11, 12  and page 229 #7, 8, 9, 14, 15 

10-21:  We began chapter 4 today by doing an introduction to functions lesson.  Hopefully, you went away from class knowing domain and range and if a relation is a function or not.  Homework is page 38-39 #3-8, 14-16, 20, 21

10-19:  We finished the applications of chapter 3 group work today.  I'd like some feedback on each group so please submit the little survey through eBackpack.  Thanks!  We will start chapter 4 Wednesday.

10-9:  Today was Laker Day.  The class was a little crazy but you worked on 10 problems to hand in.  I'll email them if you were absent.

10-7:  We worked on applications of linear equations today.  I emailed you notes if you were absent. 

10-5:  I passed your test back today and went over the correct answers.  We then showed the proportion and percents homework.  We also did some percent change problems.  You did 5 proportions and percent problems to hand in.  Homework is page 183 #2, 4, 8, 10, 11

9-30:  Today you finished your test and we started our next unit on proportions, percents and applications of linear equations.  Homework is pages 171 #10 - 28 evens and page 178 #4 - 18 evens

9-25:  We reviewed for your test which is on Tuesday today.  There is no written homework that is mandatory, but I have given you plenty to review.  I gave you 58 equations to solve and the set theory review from 9-21.  I also emailed you one more set of equations:)

9-23:  The freshmen missed half of the class today due to a civility session.  We reviewed linear equations today as we went over the homework. Today's homework is in your book.  Page 77 #26-31 and page 197 #1-18. We will review in class Friday and your first test on everything we have done so far will be on Tuesday of next week. 

9-21:  We worked with linear equations again today.  We started to do equations that were a little more difficult.  Homework is Solving equations worksheet.docx which is due Wednesday.
