Welcome to the 2014 Mr. Mormando Stock Market Challenge. Just so everyone knows, Mr. Mormando is extremely good at picking stocks that make money. He has finished at the top of the leader board in the last 5 years, finishing 1st 4 out of 5 years.

For this game, you will work in teams of 2, so choose your partner wisely. You will be graded on participation and receive extra credit based on where your team finishes. Example: if we have 50 teams and your team finishes 1st, both teammates receive 50 points extra credit. If your teams finishes 2nd, both teammates receive 49 points, and so on.

The game will begin on Friday, February 28, 2014 and each team will receive $500,000 to begin the game with. Your goal is to invest all or part of that money into stocks that you think will increase in value. You will become a stock speculator, similar to those of the 1920's who were trying to strike it rich. Hopefully, you won't end up like those who lost everything they owned.

In order to make quick money, you should follow these simple tips (not guaranteed to make you money):

Invest in companies that you think will make you money

Buy shares in 500-1000 increments. You have $500,000, don't be cheap! 

Be patient, most stocks will go up and down throughout the week, sometimes being patient will allow your stocks to make money

BUT... Don't hold on too long, if a stock is losing money, you need to decide whether it is smart to hold on, or sell

Each stock transaction will cost your team $50, so the more you buy/sell, the more it costs.

Remember to logout every day, if you don't, our next class will sabotage your game!!!
