Welcome to the Measurement Vocabulary Page. Below is a list of vocabulary terms that are important to understand Measurement. Along with each vocabulary word is a picture that further explains the definition. Look out for more words being added to this list as the school year continues.
Vocabulary
1. Length: The longest extent of an object as measured from end to end.
Ex:
2. Width: The linear extent or measurement of something from side to side, usually being the shortest dimension or (for something fixed) the shortest horizontal dimension.
Ex:
3. Height: The distance upward from a given level to a fixed point; extent or distance upward.
Ex:
4. Volume: The amount of space, measured in cubic units, that an object or substance occupies.
Ex:
5. Capacity: The maximum amount or number that can be recieved or contained in cubic contents.
