Welcome to the Number Theory Vocabulary Page. Below is a list of vocabulary terms that are important to understand Number Theory. Along with each vocabulary word is a picture that further explains the definition. Look out for more words being added to this list as the school year continues.
Vocabulary
1. Addition: The process of uniting two or more numbers into one sum, represented by the symbol (+).
Ex:
2. Subtraction: The process of finding the difference between two numbers or quantities, denoted by a minus sign (-).
Ex:
3. Equal: Like or alike in quantity, degree, or value.
Ex:
4. Denominator: The bottom term of a fraction that indicates the number of equal parts into which the unit is divided; divisor.
Ex.
5. Numerator: The top term of a fraction that indicates the number of equal parts that are to be added together; the dividend placed over the divisor.
